Talking Remote Start Quit

The remote start on our PT stopped working. I tried with both remote key fobs and they both toot the horn and flash the headlights, but the engine doesn't start. Any ideas?

I would suggest taking it back to the place that installed it.

If you bought it with it, any alarm company should be able to take a look at it.

I havent had any issues with mine

Nightwing, the remote starter also is likely set for a specific position, meaning that you have to be in Park for it to work, just like starting it the regular way. Have you tried putting it in Neutral to see if it remote starts that way?

Tell you what, I just went through three other forums looking at similar issues and can't give you any real technical advice. Need to know what type of remote start setup you have, has it worked in the past, have you had any other issues with it, and have you done any mods since installing it? A lot of remote start setups have a connection to your tach to monitor the startup process, and they seem to sometimes lose this from memory requiring a relearn, but it depends totally on your remote start system type and setup. So, without any further info, can't really help you.

It is a Mopar unit that I had the selling Chrysler dealer install when purchased new in 2006.

It has worked flawlessly since 2006, until this morning.

Research I have done suggests it might be the hood switch or somehow it is in service mode. It's my wife's car and she has left for work, but I will fool with it tonight.

Okay, I'm going down to RK Motors today for a photo shoot and one of my friends who works there is a Chrysler Master Mechanic. I'll ask him for advice on that too, but will be late in the day before I can respond.

Another thing, I'm assuming this, but is your PT an Automatic? Is it a turbo?

Yes, automatic. Just a bare bones basic 2006 PT.

Sorry that I didn't follow up on this problem. I found the culprit...the safety switch under the hood that prevents cranking if the hood is open had popped out of the retaining clip and was dangling loose. Snapped it back in the clip and AOK!
