Default Ice on door hinge

The snow and water from around the windshield wipers ran down the inside of the door and froze around the hinge. Am I missing a seal or do others have this problem?

There's a piece of insulation they added inside front fender-

This area usually fills up with leaves / debris in any car, however, with this
piece, it diverts water toward the door, you'll get water on hinge and at lower
leading edge where it normally wouldn't be.
(You can see leaves built up in this photo)

I'd:
Wash down the 'plenum' area and see if debris will flow out
If that no workee,
Remove the piece, it's not needed

This is why I keep the Cali PopTop cover on my PT in the winter, keeps all the crud from happening.

One more thing that "couldn't hurt" is to simply spray the hinges and the immediate surrounding area down with WD-40 several times during the winter. If water doesn't stick to the hinges and the hinge area, then ice won't form on them.

I like to use silicone spray because I don't have to worry about the weatherstrip being affected by the spray itself. Some oil based lubricants can affect rubber components in a negative way. Not sure about WD-40 in particular.

WD-40 is recommended to condition rubber so I would say it's "good" for it. It keeps it soft and pliable and it will keep the hinges lubricated even during the rest of the year. It contains no oil as we know the definition of oil.
