Default Overheating Pt Cruiser 2005 desiel

Hi

Wondering if someone could help me, the last few weeks my cruiser is overheating, there seems to be no leaks but i am having to put alot of water in it. I noticed today that the fan is not running when i was trying to look for a leak or something.

any idea how i can check to see if its a fusee possibly or something simple as the cost to get anything fixed in the UK is stupid prices

many thanks

Dave

Sounds like the thermostat is bad. I guess diesels have one?

It's possible bad thermostat but lack of heat is usually from air trapped in the coolant system from being low in coolant. Air seeks the highest point which is the evaporator in the dash. No water running through it, no HOT air. Happened in my Vette and cruiser.

The fan not running is probably you overheating problem. Known problem in all the cruisers including your diesel. The leak your not seeing might be from evaporation of a small leak onto a hot part or worst case, you might have a small head gasket leak.
