Default Someone give me some good news...

So today I replaced my pts bushings. Easy as pie!! Shifts beautifully.

Now my next item on the to do list is the radiator fan. About a month ago my pt started overheating at idle. Ever since I noticed it when it hit the red the one time I never idle long or I shut off the pt at long lights.

So now basically today I checked my oil, nice and clean.

I checked my coolant and surprisingly there seemed to be hardly any in it. i added 1 gallon of distilled and it filled it up. The big problem was the coolant in the radiator was a brownish color. I flushed the coolant about 10 months ago. Is this brownish coolant telling me... A. Head gasket is leaking oil into coolant, B. coolant is just rusty, it can get that bad looking in 10 months no matter how well you flushed it before, C. Coolant can burn just like oil can. Perhaps the antifreeze turned brown from being burnt under high temperatures.

so folks... What do you think? Regardless I am going to change the radiator fan this week, as well as flush the coolant. Any ideas on what to look for if its a head gasket problem? Id hate to Sell my pt but if the repairs are over my head id be better off taking him to a used car dealer and trading him towards a turbo vert!

Used Turbo- That couldn't have any serious problems!

*Toasted*the Neon this Winter- Coolant turned brown- Assumed it was rust / crud baking off inside block.
Seems OK, but I don't really care.

It's no that much harder to take head off when you're already doing time belt.

Best way to answer this one is to do a compression check. All cylinders should be within a few pounds of each other. Any that are significantly lower than 100 psi are probably leaking somewhere.

IMHO running it that low on coolant puts a lot of air in the system therefor more rust and corrosion in the system. If you don't take care of that heating and coolant loss. Head gasket or worse will be next!

It's probably nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on it. Get that fan fixed as soon as possible.

Cruiser is parked until I get it fixed this week.

The beater car had some bad bad breaks (damn guy we bought it from in sept said they were new!)

So i changed my first brakes this week and it was super easy! Now that that car is back on the road the pt is iced until I fix the issue
