Default Sherman body panels: Experience?

Upon my spring time inspection, I noticed that this past winter was very harsh on my 2003 cruiser. The rockers are badly rusted, though everything else looks good. The car has less than 100K miles and runs beautifully, I think it has lots of mechanical life into but the rust could get unbearable fast.

I found replacement rocker panels on the Sherman website, thought the picture doesn't look quite right since the panels that are rusting under the doors seems to be intgrated to the body itself. Are these replacement panels meant to be welded on top of the rusty bits?! How does this work?

Anyone has experience with these body panel replacements?

Thanks guys.
