Default Over heating

I got a 2001 Pt Cruiser LE 2.4 with 112k miles on it.
I know I need to change the timing belt almost positive the guy I got it off has never done it or the water pump. That's going to the shop to be done soon, but question is what else could be the cause of over heating?
It does not lose any fluid, and seems to get hot the more I drive so airflow doesn't seem to help either. I hear and see the fan kick on when I start the vehicle but when I shut it off I hear the boiling noises from under the hood as well. Just want to make sure nothing else I can do to correct it, if not no big deal I will just keep it parked until I get it to the shop. Thanks for any help given.

Reasons for overheating:

Bad radiator cap
Air in the cooling system
Blocked or partially blocked radiator
cracked head gasket
Cracked head

Please do a search on the forum for "overheating" and you'll find more t read than you care to.
