Default A bit confused

I went to autozone earlier to look for a new front wheel bearing. They told me that my car didn't even need to have it pressed in and out. I don't know about this. Also, how would I know if I need to replace the entire hub?

If you pull the hub off, and the wheel bearing falls out, then the hub needs replacing. As to the bearings, not sure what they were trying to tell you. Those front bearings are not like gonna slip right in. They can be a PITA to remove and replace. I bought new ones, took my hubs down to Napa and they popped out the old and pressed in the new for $15/hub. Done in less than an hour.

I only need one done, I can get both a bearing and a hub fairly cheap. Oh well, now I've got plans for next week.

As chrome said, you only need the bearing- Hubs are re-used.
And, as he said, the bearing is pressed into the knuckle, and the hub (after a retainer plate) is pressed into the bearing.

You can DIY if you have a huge vice, or hammers with the correct drivers
(usually the old bearing). You'll need to 'slice' the outer race of the hub with a dremel.

Is there a step by step process? I'd rather not pay extra money for labor if I can take it aprt myself and just get a ride to Napa.

Yes- Someone posted a how-to here, IIRC.
There's also a good one on neons.org, stickied under 'first gen', IIRC

Remove the knuckle and take whole works to NAPA, they can swap bearings for a few $$
