Default Car just died. Codes P0320 and P1684. Help?

Engine quit suddenly, no sputtering, noise, nothing. The key dance shows two codes:
P0320 - The sticky on this site says "Ignition/Distributor engine speed input circuit malfunction" Is this the crankshaft position sensor or something else? (the crankshaft position sensor has been replaced twice in the past two years.)
P1684 - "Driver5 Line4"
Anybody have a clue what these mean?
TIA
Eric

Looka there! One I can answer.

Camshaft sensor is the P0320. Fairly simple replacement.

P1684 is the battery being disconnected recently.

If you've had the camshaft sensor replaced fairly recently and/or are around 100,000 miles, you may actually have a broken timing belt. There is an inspection cover if you want to check it but, depending on the engine, it's a bugger to get off and on.

The timing belt is what happened to my 02 Limited at 115k. Symptoms are exactly like your description.

Agree with bandaide with a little something to add. If it turns out your nowhere near 100,000 miles and it is the camshaft sensor again, DO NOT use aftermarket parts which I'm sure you are doing. Only replace the sensor with Chrysler/MOPAR original parts. It's been proven time and time again that the aftermarket auto store electrical parts are CRAP and don't hold up to real world driving. That's why your's failed twice before.

Thanks guys. Um, are you sure it's cam position and not crank position?
I am so steamed about this - (the car has been well maintained and driven gently, now has 159000 km, with timing belt at 144000) but what really bugs me is that I suspect the shop is not really fixing things - they are merely replacing the components their electronic gadget tells them to replace. And, on the two previous occasions the problem was intermittent, as now. The car will start right now and run, but how far...
I'm going to a new mechanic on Monday.

I went to another shop; one that is recommended by someone I trust. The tech said the likely reason the sensor failed again is that the last two have been cheap aftermarket knock-offs. He says he'll get one from Chrysler and it should last a long time. Another lesson I'm re-learning.

A footnote to this:
The shop used a Mopar part which solved the problem but also seems to have improved fuel economy and power. Live and learn.
