Lately, I've been having trouble with possessed windshield wipers on my 2006 base PT. In the past, occasionally the front wipers would turn on when hitting a bump, but ever since we got the power steering replaced a couple months ago, the wipers come on frequently by themselves, particularly when using the turn signals.
Anyone know what the problem could be, and how you would fix it? Is it an expensive fix? |

Once the weather got warm, the problem stopped. Now that it is getting cold again, the problem has started back up. Once again, the windshield wipers came on today by themselves, but this time, didn't want to turn off easily. To get them off, you have to turn them to the 'on' position. To get them 'on', you have to turn them to 'off' position. And now they won't turn up to the faster speed, only the two lower speeds!
Just what I need with Hurricane Sandy heading this way. Does this sound like the switch, and if so, is that an expensive fix? My only option is the dealer, and I just dropped $400 there 2 weeks ago for something else...

Any updates on this? I have an 06 with similar issues and am thinking about replacing the MFS, but I wanted to see if you tried or had any luck.
Thanks in advance! (Edit: I am asking because it appears the switch changed slightly in '06 and most of the wiper/turn signal issues reported are from '05 or earlier and the issues reported by '06 and up are mostly about the fog lights staying on. This is the only post I have found that has the same issues on the same model year and I'm hoping to have more info before I start dropping cash.) Last edited by TANK07; 16 Dec 2013 at 05:26 pm. |

Yep, it was the switch. They replaced the multifunction switch and haven't had the problem since. Cost around $240 at the dealer though

Thank you so much for the reply and I'm glad you got it fixed! I'll have to give it a shot myself.
