Default Difference between an 05 to 06

Some freinds and I were talking the other night and a question was put forth that we couldn't answer, What are the differences between an 05 or older pt and an 06 and newer one? The hood is the same on all years correct? will the fenders from all years fit all as well? Everyone was curious if the entire front end from an older pt pre 2006 would fit on a newer version? Crazy what you think about after a few cold "sodas". Thanks

The main thing is the electrical system. They went to the canbus system in 2006 and it makes it hard to add anything electrical. You have to be real careful when tapping into wires.

Front: Headlights, lower bumper, fender liners
Inside: Center dash, instrument cluster, airbag cover, front pillar molding, rear pillar mouldings, center console, door panels
Rear: bumper

If you change enough of it all parts will interchange with any year though.

Why can't we all just come together and embrace our love of the PT instead of splitting PT cruiser owners down the middle with generational divides?

Didn't sound like that was his intent. I think he just wanted to know the differences. Seems like a fair question to me.

I realize that wasnt the original intent.

Follow the thread, it is already veering off into 1st gen vs 2 gen.

It always seems to go that way

Hello, 06 and newer have larger chrysler hood emblem, their is also a mini spoiler near the rear hatch also the rear passenger window switches are higher off the floor so they won't get kicked or step on. theirs also a pull out cup holder back there. the tail lights lenses are clear, their is a center floor console with tow tier storage and sliding armrest, headlights are designed different, the rear speakers are in a different position, the radio has a aux input, headrest are a different design, there is a anolog clock and a grab bar below the glove box . gauges are larger easier to read. Anyway some things to mention to those whom don't know and are looking to buy. Currently I have a auto 2002 Touring and a 2006 Touring 5-speed enjoy both.
