Id go with timing belt, if no oil lights then its prob not a siezed engine... Id also bet on a camshaft position sensor maybe too. Did you try the key dance?

holy crapoly - I'd say the belt snapped. Did you try the key dance to see if you have any trouble codes?

Here's the simple steps to the key dance:
  • Turn key to Accessory mode, first stop only, do NOT turn on the car
  • Now, turn the key to the On position (next stop), then back to ACC, then On, then ACC - do it three times and you'll notice on your odometer that it is running an internal test.
  • Watch your odometer for any codes displayed
Basically, on/off/on/off/on/off without going all the way to start mode. This is how you request the self-test of your CPM/EPM.

As I said in the PM you sent me, probably the timing belt if you are anywhere near 100,000 miles, and you are.

The key dance is a way of getting any faults that the computer sees from any of the sensors. Chromenut gave you the fast and dirty. Here's the whole procedure and remember to do the on/off sequence in less than 5 seconds. Sounds hard but it's not.

How to retrieve fault codes.

If it is the timing belt, you should see a fault like P0340 which means the Camshaft sensor isn't seeing a signal which happens when the camshaft isn't turning anymore.

My dealer wants $1400 for the timing belt, water pump and tensioner replacement. There is a local shop who said they would do it for $1100. It is quite the job.

Mine was $1200 but then he found a leak in the seal around the Crankshaft. Only a bit more in labor involved since he was already in the area.
