Default TOWING BEHIND AN RV

I have a 2003 PT, automatic, what harm will it do to tow this auto on a dolly ? The manual says never tow it, says to haul it, but does not tell why.

If the front wheels are off the ground, I can't see any reason why you couldn't tow it. Let's see what others say.

No issues, better than 4 down. The only ware would be the rear baerings as the rear wheels still be turning.

David, I don't know what manual you're talking about. I have a 2003 Limited PT (automatic)--and the Owner's Manual that came with the car when I bought it new, says it's okay to tow the vehicle as long as the front wheels are off the ground.

Sure they meant to tow w/o front wheels on ground-

Otherwise '64 and older still had rear pumps- They'd lubricate trans while towing

Never tow with the front down! If you're going to set up the front end on casters or whatever method, and drag the rear, it'll be okay. Personally I used to tow lots of vehicles on vacations and I always added extra grease to the bearings just before towing. Since there is nothing connected to the rear end, towing with the fronts off the ground is easy to do.
