Default Rapid clicking from starter won't start

Wife parked PT, came back later won't start. Tested battery...good. Everything works except radio won't turn on and when trying to start only get rapid clicking from starter. Checked relays & fuses, all good. It is a 2001 with 84,000 miles.

Either the connections between starter and battery, the ignition switch area, or starter. Try boosting to rule out starter.
How was the battery tested and found to be good?

How did you test the battery? If you checked it by just testing the voltage that won't work. It may show 12 volts but not be able to put out the amps needed to start the car. i would also check all your connections. If the battery is very old then I would go ahead and replace it. Seems like these cars are very sensitive to low battery output.

Busted beat me to it so sorry for the repeat info lol

I figured at first it was the battery. Went to auto zone & before I paid for it, I asked them to check it. Thier meter read that it was fine but needed a charge. I took the old back & checked the cells with hydrometer, they all read between fair to good. The meter on the charger read in the yellow indicating low. Charged it, meter read full charge. Put it back in car, still just got rapid clicking. Hooked up battery charger to jump start, just clicked faster. Had my mechanic tow to shop, he found that the battery was bad and replaced with new. No problems so far.

Thanks for your quick replies.

Could be dirty batt. cable's or a bad solenoid. I have had both problems in the past with other cars...if the batt. is good check those cable ends carefully. clean them with a knife inside the cable and sometimes they will develop a crust on the post themselves. PTpreacher

You missed his last post. It was a bad battery.
