Default 2002 Dreamer Update - Anyone got a spare engine?

Well my bargain 02 Dreamer which allegedly needed a timing belt has been torn apart by my mechanic and the cylinder walls are scarred, black and heads are very warped.

Car was seriously overheated. Luckily I am only 6 hours into this so far with my mechanic (who has a reasonable rate) and I only paid 850 for an otherwise very good condition car, so it looks like we are engine hunting.

So... if anyone has a line on a non turbo 2.4, please let me know.

Also... what year engines will work in a 2002 Series 1 Dreamer?

The Saga Continues...

the heads have a lot of meat on them and can take a lot of grinding id bet tey make over sized pistons or rings might be cheaper to do some machine work and have a well built motor??
I think the 02 needs a 02 engin something about the erg thingeee

Mechanic says the warp is the thickness of a dime... said he did not think he could machine them right and feel confident that the motor was solid.

Staying with an 02 engine really limits my options....
