Default Installed Heated Seats Pads

I have been looking at installing the heated seat pads to my existing seats and was wondering if anyone has done this before, if so, how much trouble , and where did you hook up the power leds to.

Thanks,

I too am looking to do this mod on my 2006 GT. Any information that's out there would be greatly appreciated by many of us.

Thanks,
Hey Cruiser. I have not installed them in a PT, but have in several other makes. You will have to remove the seat covers, install the heater pads, and then re-install the covers. You'll need hog rings and hog ring pliers.

The wiring varies between kits. Most will use a relay to feed the seats directly from the battery. The switch is a ground to engage the relay. That is the safest way to do the power feed.

Another consideration is whether or not you have air bag equipped seats. Some of the heater kits are not recommended to be used with air bag equipped seats.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Ron

Thanks for the info. I do have the air bag seats so I better look into that before I screw something up.....

If you're willing to spend a little extra money, you could just get some oem heaters, and maybe a button, and wire them in.

Mine has heated cloth seats with airbags.

It would take more than a little more money. The OEM heating pads are stitched into the seat covers. They are not available separately that I've seen. If the OEM seat covers are still available, I would think the price would be exorbitant.

The pads themselves are available separately for 2006-2010 models and have adhesive to stick onto the original pad for replacement purposes.

Not sure about pre-2006 models.
