Cool Oil leak.

I have a 2004 PT Turbo with 30k miles on it and just noticed an oil leak. I have no lift so I felt around down around the inside of the front bumper cover. It fees like the leak is coming from a line that runs into what I assume is the oil cooler behind the radiator. It is not tranny fluid (wrong color, wrong smell). The leak stops when the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Anyone heard of this before?

I had a leak in that area, it cost me $1.49 to fix it.

The factory "crimp-on" hose clamp was loose where the power steering hose goes into the radiator. It was a royal PITA to get the old one off, I had to grind it down with a Dremel until I could break it loose.

Then I just replaced it with a standard screw-type hose clamp. Never even had to remove the hose from the radiator barb, so no muss, no fuss, at least with fluid.

If it's a manual, no trans cooler. Need more info.

Okay,

After more investigation, it looks like it's the p/s fluid that's been leaking. Until I can get it on a lift, I'll just top off the fluid. Any recommendations on fluid type?

If you're planning to have the system flushed and the leak fixed, you could roll the dice on those fancy stop-leak concoctions.. But I'd only do that if you're planning to have it flushed. Otherwise, just top it off until you can fix the leak. I believe there was a TSB issued that called for the fluid to be replaced with ATF-4.
