burning oil?

Default burning oil?

so im looking at geting a pt. but ive heard they burn thru oil. such as using a quart of oil every 250-500 miles. does anyone hve this problem and is this a problem with pt's?

Look around at the ones you see on the road If you don't see a huge cloud of smoke. Then you will know the people you been talking to are the ones blowing smoke.

126K and I go 8k between changes w/o adding oil.

114Kmiles and i go 7,500 miles between oil changes. Never had to add oil in between changes.

110+K, go 5,000 miles between changes, use no oil.

Uh, honestly.. that's not really a make-specific trait that you could attach to the PT brand.. some cars are known for bad head gaskets and other issues, but the only correlation between 'burning oil' and owning a PT is poor maintenance and bad owners (either previously or currently).

120,000+ change oil ever 4000 never have added oil and mine is mostly running 70-80 so id say BUSTED on the 250-500 miles theory

I work at a dealer, and I honestly have never seen a PT that was burning oil.

The only major engine problem I've seen is on a few 2007 models with between 30-50k miles, the crankshaft started walking back and forth and blew out the main seals, requiring engine overhaul/replacement.

But even then, with the hundreds of PTs I've been around over the years, there have only been a few with that crankshaft problem, so it's rare to say the least.
