Default Turboing N/A engine

Hello to everyone, I am painfully new at adding boost to cars, I know that the engine in the GT PT is the same as that in the SRT4 (neon) but my question is if i were to buy a turbo and intake from a wrecked pt would I have to change anything internally. any answers on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Drew

Welcome Drew

Ok this is probaly the MOST DISCUSSED TOPIC ON THE SITE

that is not a bad thing just a relaly well covered one

First the block is the same other inside parts r parts are not
adding a turbo will cost you way more to get it installed and everything changed than to go find a turbo and buy it ie intercoller turbo not sure on the inside of the block but there are things in there
the NON TURBO is just that so to answer you
Yes you can add a turbo
Yes it will be way expensive
unless you find a turbo PT and pull everything out then it might work btu is a freaking ton of work

the computor will for sure HAVE to be changed and flashed
its a lot of work and the end result is actually just not worth all the time money and new cuss words you will likely invent

The block is different but can be reworked. And if we're talking 01 the wiring is different than the later models. 06 the canbuss wiring. So buy GT or nitrous system.

this is probably my favorite answer lol. But thanks to everyone for all the info I'll probably look for a GT and save some time. I know that working on these is quite difficult because of the hood/fenders and such.

It more the electcal stuff. We have a member here who has taken on this project and still has a ton of issues to work out and has already done many issues along the way. The hardware is the easy stuff.

Yep time, money and tuning! You'd have a hi comp turbo very different animal from a low comp turbo ie very intolerant of poor tuning!

It would have a lower full boost threshold at least without WI or E85 that would be the case.

We do NA to Turbos all the time over on Tercelonline. So yes it could be done with the PT, but yeah the motor is a PIA to work on, not something I'd want to do to (with) a daily driver, now if you pick up a second busted PT for a good price and have the time, space and budget..go for it!

Otherwise as they say..get a Turbo!
