Default Fuel Mileage on my vacation drive

Just got back from vacation. Drove from Arizona thru Oklahoma, into Louisiana back thru Texas and home. It was just under 5000 miles in 3 weeks. I kept track of fillups along the way just to check mileage.

I did 14 full fillups for 3761miles using 148.853 gal of regular gas.
Comes out to 25.268MPG.

Car was loaded. me and the wife, small dog, luggage, emergency supplies, and other stuff. I took the back seats out to make room on the trip.
Kept at posted highway speeds except on hilly areas using cruise control most of the time. Light use of the A/C.

I have had a CEL on for P0031 and P0037. Both sensors were replaced but the lights kept staying on. Been that way for months now but does not seem to affect the cars performance..

Did you try exchanging them? I've had bad o2 sensors out of the box before.

Back in October, I took a trip down to Denver, which is about 550 miles from Billings. I had to fill up 3 times to get down there, and was getting about 20mpg.

On the way back, we went from Casper to Thermopolis and stayed there a couple days, and came back to Billings. 3 more fill ups on the way back, but got about 22mpg that time, since Denver is slightly uphill from Billings.

My PT gets terrible mileage!

Someone mentioned replacing the maf even though it seemed in spec. They reported better milage after the replacement. Sorry don't remember the thread.

If you mean MAP sensor, guilty as charged.

I have given up on trying to get the CEL to go away. The two codes dont seem to affect anything - no bad mileage, rough idle etc. I just do the key dance from time to time to make sure there are not any new codes.
