Default I NEED HELP!

I need help. My 2003 PT died at a red light last night. Engine light came on and then it quit. Tried to restart, acted like the battery was dead. Hooked it up to charger. Engine turns over but seems like it is labored, like it is under heavy load. I get NO codes, and I am not sure where to even start here. I can hear the fuel pump, so I think it is getting fuel. but this seems to be an electrical issue.

THIS IS MY PRIMARY VEHICLE SO I NEED HELP FAST!

Howie,

What is the mileage of your PT? Can you turn a wrench or does someone do all your maintenance? You say you get "no codes" but does it say "done" when you do the key dance to retrieve the codes? Has the timing belt ever been replaced? Have you ever replaced the Camshaft or Crankshaft positions sensors?

Well Howie. I answered you ONE minute after you posted. You said you needed help FAST. Here it is an HOUR later and you haven't come back to your own posting.

Sorry, new to this site. I left the page open, but it timed out on me. I have been in the garage trying to trouble shoot. I try to do all my own maintenance, but I am far from a skilled mechanic. Code reader says the car "passes" and gives no codes. Checked the timing belt, seems to be fine. It appears to be an electrical issue. Dash lights and guages go nuts when trying to start. used battery out of my truck, same issue, so i don't think it is the battery. Is there a common short issue with these cars?

just over 123,000 miles. It gets regular maintenance. Oil changes etc.

Not sure the CPS would cause the dash issues and make the engine seem like it is under a load. Could the alternator go out and cause a short?

I am not leaving my computer this time, really do need something new to try.

How did you determine the timing belt was good?

Took the cover off and looked at it. It seemed to look ok. I guess that could be other than what it seems. Again, the engine seems to be bogged down when it cranks, and the gauges go crazy, could the timing belt cause these?

So the cams turn when you crank it and the belt is not shredded up somewhere?

Did not turn the car over when I had the cover off. Didn't have anyone to help with that, but the belt did not look shredded from my vantage point.
