Default No ignition, please help!

Hi,

I have a 2004 Cruiser 2.2L and for some reason I have absolutely no ignition.

I can get the miles etc... on the dashboard. Lights work fine except when switched on the miles on the dashboard go extremely dim.

The interior lights work, electric doors and windows are fine.

However, the radio does not work either.

If I turn the key to try and turn the ignition, absolutely nothing happens.

I have checked all the fuses in the main fusebox under the hood. Checked the most obvious fuses inside the car.

Does anyone know what could cause this? What would the next place to check be? It seems very odd!

Thanks!

Hi rob342,

hmm, It seems to feel normal, I've not noticed anything different.

Is it possible it could be the ignition switch causing this?

Thanks,

Nick

Any unusual lights on in the dash? Blinking red light or anything. Do the head lights dim when you turn to start?

Hi,

Nope there are no unusual lights on at all. The headlights don't din when you try to start either.

I'm really not sure what it could be. It seems very odd!

Any other ideas would be welcome too!

Thanks!

I assume that you have an "export" as known on this side of the sea.
Fuse #1 (30 amp) in the PDC is the most likely problem. The ignition switch is the next target.
If its diesel, I get to start over.

not the ignition switch itself, it's the skinny little rod running from the lock cylinder to the switch. they break from time to time.

this isn't the problem. if it was it would not feel like it was springing back when you tried to start it. i just brought it up because it's happened to me.

hope you get it figured out

What year is your PT Cruiser?

Does your PT Cruiser crank over? If not check the 12 volt line coming from the ignition switch to the starter.

Have you guys tried cleaning the battery posts and cables? You might just have a crappy connection somewhere.
