Default I think my PT is haunted.

The case of the map lights.

*Anyone* else experience the front map lights coming on all by themselves when the car is turned off, all interior lights dim out, it's locked up, and hours later you find that a map light has turned on?

About a year ago, I had to finally remove the right side lightbulb and leave it out.

Last week, I found the other map light turned on all by itself.

Tonight, a family member noticed it was in the driveway with the inside light on.

Anybody else? Or do I have car ghosts? I'll check it in a few hours, and I hope I don't have to remove another lightbulb! After that, who knows what random thing this car is going to do??

One of the split seats went into a dumpster in Tulsa. The arm rest unscrewed and fell off. It's on its 2nd timing belt. Surviving the Upper Peninsula winters.

The only thing I can think of is a short-circuited switch. But it's strange that both the light suffer from it

Yes indeed and it is just not segregated to PT's either. I would guess that 9 out of 10 vehicle coming into my shops with electrical problems are generally battery related. And unfortunately it is due to little or no maintenance. Sears did no one a favor when they coined the phrase "maintenance free batteries". All that meant was that during a liquid batteries life you should not need to add fluid. It had nothing to do with the terminal and cables that are a big cause of battery failures and electrical problems especially on computer controlled vehicles..

If other in side items were involved the module might be the culprit. Can this be disable by the mult function switch?

It's got multiple issues right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the battery is one. I'll have it checked out.

I finished the spark plugs and wires, but car is still sputtering and the idle RPM's going up and down with it. As it sputters, the interior light also flickers and dims.

Just so I don't get overcharged, how much should it cost to have a shop evaluate my charging system? Would it be cheaper to buy a multi meter? Thanks.

Call ahead and check, but Sears used to test battery/charging system for free (in hopes of selling you a battery).
