Default firehouse siren

Has anyone else experienced this?
In the last month or so, when I come to a stop, I hear what sounds like a faint firehouse siren sound. For awhile, I actually thought it was a firehouse siren, but then noticed it happened everywhere and there just couldn't be a fire everytime I came to a stop.
Doesn't seem to be related to anything either. I'm guessing if it is a siren sound that it has something to do with something spinning. In the transmission maybe?
Any ideas?

It's supposed to be more of a squeal but there's a warning sound that comes from the front brakes when the pads are getting low.

Definitely not the brakes. I guess the stopping reference was confusing. That's just when I notice the sound more.
If you can imagine a firehouse siren off in the distance, that's what it sounds like. Even when I'm stopped you hear it...perhaps even more.

Noise like that used to come from the radio many, many moons ago when electrical interference from the engine alternator/generator could be heard through the speakers. Haven't heard anyone complain about that in years.

If it is alternator whine it will increase with an increase in rpm.

Perhaps you are hearing the high pitch sound of the electric fuel pump in the tank...they can sometimes be loud enough to hear.

Thumbs up Re: firehouse siren

just my 2 cents, could it be the low side of the cooling fan coming on while you are coming to a stop.might be what you are hearing.

Maybe the power steering pump going out or low on fluid. If it's a cherpy noise, it could be the drive belts. Do we get a prize for the correct answer?

Hmmm. I replaced the low speed fan last year. I was thinking maybe the fuel pump.
Generally, I come to a stop and it's like the siren sound is at the highest frequency and is coming down.
I'll just turn the radio up!

Thanks all!
ps, that's the prize!
