Default 2003 Pt Cruiser

HI Everybody, My wife has a 2003 Pt Cruiser, I am the lucky one who gets to work on it. My first question is, what should the amps read after everything shuts down? I am trying to trace an electrical draw. I hooked up my multimeter and it was reading .49, open door, reads, .68. I pulled fuses and when I pulled fuse #14 O-H cnsl radio, 20 amp, pulled fuse it dropped to .24. Is this a problem?
My next question is the check engine light is always on and no codes, how can the light be turned off. Thank you.

Your readings sound off. The door open with a dome light is around 2 amps. You need an IOD draw around .050 or 50 mA. I purchased a fuse draw tester to diagnose a similar problem. A weak battery from this issue may give you phantom CEL.

You can try getting rid of the CEL (Check Engine Light) by taking off the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. Step on the brake pedal to get rid of any residual charge and then put it all back together again.

Before my wife and I got together she had her son remove the dome light, and the light in the back. I don't get this with no lights on when door is open, shouldn't my reading be lower than .68. When doors are closed I have .48 on my multimeter, I think that if door is open and no lights on, the reading should stay the same not jump to .68. could some one please explain that to me, as I don't understand. Thank you.

This. Or poorly insulated wires *not enough electrical tape or twist ons used* this can cause it to have strong connection in one spot, and a weak on the other side.
