Default Took apart my cruiser, now i'm missing a hose. What is this?

It looks like it goes from the valve cover to the air filter housing, but I'm not sure what it's called or what to ask for at the store. Anybody know?

I believe it's called a "make-up" hose. It functions to breathe in when the PCV valve is drawing into the intake manifold under vacume and to breathe out crankcase vapors into the airbox pipe when the PCV is not under vacuum. The factory hose is all pre-convoluted to fit but a hunk of flexible hose works just fine, too. Fuel line works best because it's able to stand up to the oil better than plain rubber.

Thanks, I'll just get fuel line and run it. Can anyone confirm that this should run to the hose connector on the air filter housing (look at this picture). The pic rob342 posted is a different model and looks different than my 2005 2.4 turbo.

Yes, it's just the crankcase vent. It has no functionality whatsover beyond that- Factory cleverly runs it into airbox (filteredd side) to save putting a filter on it-
Some manufacturers DO put filters on them in the unfiltered side of airbox ...

Not to confuse things, I will warn that on some valvecovers the PCV valve is in this location ...

Thanks, I got a 3/8" hose and connected it. You really need the original part though. It's such a tight fit, that I had to bend the hose in an awkward way, and I had to make it do a loop.

Also for those that want to replace the little filter pad in the Air Filter housing that this feeds, the part number is 05066076AA.

I don't know who this member is, only (1) post, but I would like to say THANK YOU for providing the correct part number for this part. I ordered one from an online source. Even the parts guys at (2) of my local dealerships couldn't find this part. I had been using something similar that I found at AutoZone. Thanks again for being very helpful

myckee and buddyiramae like this.

rob342, - Did you use "plain old" fuel line or heater hose type stuff from the auto parts store... and it didn't kink, even with the tight-fitting turns? The correct replacement hose is really over-priced !! (I know this is an old post)
