Default 171,000 MILES

Hello, i,m new here today.I,m looking at a 2007 PT Cruiser with 171,000 miles ,around $4000. .It looks good ,the 2.4 I-4 Sfi DOHC sounds good, no smoke. It had 4 previous owners.I,m worried about the high miles. What do you think? Thanks

I'd be worried about that also. Too many other PT's are out there in the marketplace with way less mileage.

Well I can tell you that if it is a base pt. That the price is on target for dealer retail. If it is a higher end version then the price gets better.
You need to know what maintenance been done. Depending on when the timing belt was done, it may be time to do it again. This is a expensive to pay someone to do.

Dealer doesnt know about timing belt, i asked yesterday, and car fax doesnt show anything except the last 2 owners only owned it 5 months and the other 7 months which i thought was a little strange. Thanks again, i,ll keep looking for one.

Went back and test drove the 171,000 mile PT today.Ran real good down the interstate 70 mph.Got back to the lot and could smell antifreeze, and could see the coolant jug was low.Didnt overheat or anything but does have a coolant leak that i couldnt find.Any ideas on what usally goes wrong on these? I really like the car.

To be blunt, too many miles and too much money. I would keep looking.

Pass, keep looking, there are some many out there, only settle for a pristine lower mileage car.
