Funny to see the ad...

There is one in my area I just saw it last week. I thought it was 'KOOL". The next time I see him I will get a few shots and post them up.

Here is a different link to the bumper cover:
Chrysler PT Cruiser TMD PT Cruiser Bumper Covers

I became aware of this a couple of years back before first seeing issues of Cruiser Quarterly Magazine. Looking through the magazines this evening, I see that it was not until issue #8 (vol 4, #1, winter 03/04) that this bumper cover is first seen pictured, advertised or touted.
With pictures on page 18, "Cool Stuff, hot PT products"
"Restyle your PT with Truck Master Designs' new front and rear PT Cruiser Bumper Covers. Made from durable, paintable ABS plastic, the custom skins install over the factory bumpers quickly with two sided tape and plastic rivets, meaning you can get custom streetrod flair without any major panel removal. The covers are styled to integrate seamlessly with the factory pieces and include molded-in grills and openings. Truck Master Designs Inc, Wakarusa IN"
PT Cruiser Bumper Covers

In the same issue, Revel Enterprises offers this item in their four-page catalog ad.

The first picture I find of the bumper cover on an owner's car is four issues later in vol 5, #1, winter 04/05.
On page 66, among many small photos is a closeup pic of a white PT with Massachusetts plate "HERPT 1" below the bumper.

Whoa, that is REALLY cool! The description says the grill vents on the bumper cover are actually cutout...

it also says that it goes over the existing bumper, so even though they are cut out, they won't be functional. not that they should be, since these cars don't run hot. i guess if you are into the vatozone style stick on vents, you can get one for your bumper. personally, i'd rather have a bumper that can bump things.

Bumper reinforcement would block the vents anyway.

I see what you are saying.

The grill that extends below the bumper is one of my favorite features of the earlier PT's...

But yeah these products don't make a ton of sense. I'm not a huge fan of non-functional stuck-on vents and such. But it looks kinda cool!

Default Totally cosmetic...

...and perhaps poorly cosmetic; certainly nonfunctional.
Seen obliquely as in a 3/4 view (http://www.truckmasterdesigns.com/Im...ront-Angle.gif)
these bumper cover grille opening suddenly are all off-plane and (to my eye) plainly wrong.

I like it but doesn't fit a turbo. So there it is.
