Default Crewzin....

Why here on the forums in your sig line do you state your pt is a 2000 but on your own page you state it's a 2001?

Wait what??????

Most of us that are "True Automotive enthusiastic" know that the real birth date of our cars which is usually not the year it was released? I would be willing to guess that CREWZIN's PT has a build date of somewhere in the year 2000 but the actual model release was for the 2001 market thus in all legal sense making it a 2001. But you could even call it a 2000 which would be more accurate.
As an example if a car has a build date of 6/79 it makes this car built for the 1980 market. At times this information is more important to getting the correct parts and not really to much more. Even most all DMV's will go by the release date or car manufactured after after the fifth month and call it the following year for registration in the case of my example a 1980 vehicle instead of its true date of build of 1979.

So Busa what actual year is your PT?

Try your driver door jam for the information.

For more assistance you can even ask CREWZIN.

Took Busa a long time to ask that question. He has been here longer than me. I asked that the first couple of months I was here.

My DMV goes off of model year, not production date

A production date is just a production date. It's not the model year of a vehicle. Say you have a 2006 PT with a production date of 11/2005. You wouldn't call it a 2005 PT would you?

Also, the change to the next model year is not necessarily after the 5th month. It varies quite greatly. I had a 2001 BMW years back with a production date of 3/2000. Also, we have several 2012 models left on our lot with production dates ranging all the way from 8-10/2012.

That is what I said...the model year only I called it release date. And the 5th month was a generality that most DMV's will go with. I am aware of exceptions like the famous 70 1/2 Camaro So back at you

BTW when most new vehicle dealerships establish the value of the vehicle it is with the production date not the release date. Ask you flooring manager about that.
