Default 2005 cruise control will not stay on and work

A couple of days ago when I went to turn on the cruise control the dash light came on for a split second and then went off. The cruise will not work. Is there a relay someplace that will not stay tripped?

Thanks Jeff

Looking through the manual, the cuise control consists of The PCM, TCM, speed sensor, speed control servo, speed control switch (stalk), clockspring and brake lamp switch.

Plenty of things that control and that could cause the problem your having. Look over the wires and connections of the servo (upper left hand side of the engine compartment) for anything that might have come loose or disconnected plus the wire and control that doubles with the throttle cable.

Servo is the round gizmo on the top left. This is a turbo engine but N/A has the same servo.

Forget the yellow star. Check the operation of the double wires. One is throttle control, the other is cruise control. Wires should be tight.

It also consists of the vacuum resevior. There could be a vacuum problem causing the cruise not to work. Check for vacuum leaks especially in and around the servo and vac resevior.

Hey Chris, if the actuator is leaking vacuum will it cause the cruise to turn off and the dash light to go off? I have wondered that when diagnosing cruise issues. I know that without vacuum it wouldn't keep the throttle open but didn't know if the light would turn off.
