Default Under Hood Insulation Crapped Out.

Hey guys; I need opinions on what to do with my hood insulation. It's dry, flaky, ripped, dripping, and right down ugly..Pretty much dead

I'm thinking..this thing is dangerous the way it is right now with all that turbo heat, and what not.

Where do you guys get them from?..or should I just peel the dam thing off, and dump it?

If you don't mind the extra engine noised take it off. The only thing is that the under-hood was not fully painted and clear coated. So unless you do some housekeeping it will look almost as unsightly as the sound insulation?

That's definitely cool...but doesn't it add a lot of extra heat to the engine.?

How much is something like that, and where to get it?

I put some dynamat behind it before installing it. Ordered it from American Car Craft (ACC) 727-861-1500. They make a piece for the bottom also and I have it but have not installed it yet.

There is no noticable heat build up that I see.

Call them for current pricing.

Thanks. I was really thinking about the heat bouncing back from into the engine bay, not so much going up on the hood.

I think the original insulation was more for sound than heat absorption although I am sure it did both.

Top and bottom piece in polished stainless steel, also from ACC. They're just down the down from me. They also do the battery cover.

Not only sound but heat protection for your hoods paint. Not the engine. It has its own cooling system. So those mods will double as that as well. No worrys on the catch fire thing. Not a flammable material.
