Default Duralast ECT not working

Just put a new Duralast ECT sensor in and now my temperature gauge doesn't work. Anybody else use one of these before? Is this a part that should only be bought at the dealership?

I use all electronics mopar, sorry but have been on too many boards and know too many techs, they all tell you use mopar only, also have a couple of tapes from Head Reliability Engineer at Chrysler and interesting how the specs are much tighter for ma mopar parts, hence why fewer issues.

What are you calling ECT?

Oh, sorry, it the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. I pulled the connector and reinstalled it, plus let it idle for about 5 - 10 minutes and it did move up, but only up to the top of the C.

Found out my month old thermostat went. Apparently the Failsafe thermo's are known to do this.

Yes it would seem so. Wouldn't worry much about that sensor. Another sensor that doesn't seem to give issue OEM or aftermarket. We must remember Mopar dose no make these parts they are contracted to the companies that end up making the aftermarket ones. Good luck figuring out witch one. No matter here. These rarely go bad.

Update: Found the thermostat stuck open and after replacing it, the gauge was reading correctly again. So, the Duralast ECT was indeed fine.

Was the thermostat also a Duralast part also? Those from Autozone? I had a newly installed thermostat crap out and never warm up, friend had same thing on a Neon, daughter same thing... bought a Mopar thermostat for more $$$ but am confident won't crap out on me.

Thermostat wasn't Duralast brand, it was Fail-Safe, but was from AutoZone. Probably what you got, it was the first thermo they brought out. From a little research, I've been reading that they stick open prematurely very often. Not something I'd every get again. I have the Duralast brand in there now.
