Default 06 PT Cruiser Won't Start

Car will not crank most times, car will start with a jump. Replaced ignition switch, dealer replaced computer module then they said I needed to replace alternator, did that. Car still will only start every so often without a jump and when it will start it hesitates before it cranks. Oh yea and now its overheating for know apparent reason. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the battery good? And are the battery connections good? If it starts just fine with a jump you either have a bad battery or a bad connection.

Most decent auto stores will do a free battery and charging system check.

The overheating is a separate issue with many solutions. Before having the battery/alternator tested, You MUST have clean battery terminals.

Think of the starter 'high amp' circuit as a chain. Any corrosion on any connection will make the chain weak or useless.

Thanks for the post, however this is where we stand today, replaced alternator, battery, ignition switch and Chrysler replaced the control module. PS they are the ones that told me the alternator and battery needed replace. All cables connected to the battery have been checked. The car will start without incident for a couple a days then we go and try to start it one day and nothing, dashboard lights up the ignition dings but nothing. Now sometimes when we jiggle the key , lock and unlock doors, do the Hokey Pokey and turn ourselves around, it start sometimes and sometimes no. ????????????????????

Don: pull small wire off the starter; using a test light grounded to the battery ground terminal, insert the probe into the small wire plug. Have a helper try to start the car. Test light should be on whenever ign. key is turned. If not, then wiggle key, wiggle shift lever, move steering wheel up and down and see if the test light flashes. It's a starting point.
