Question Looking for some help

New to the forum, have had our 06 Ruby Red Rag Top for five years.
Lately, wife has reported that all the lights on the dash flash then the engine dies. Will restart, but is rough and weak, today was really bad.
When I got home I put the scanner on her, no codes seemed to run fine for me (didn't road test limited time). I used my key, issue happened while wife was using her key (smart key), can it be as simple as the key?
Is this a electrical system ground issue, ECM issue, or smart key issue? Will do some searching, but really expected to find a code with the scanner.

Ruby is an 06, 2.4 Turbo auto with 44,000 miles, Rag Top.

Thanks!

I would try cleaning all the cable connections to the battery cables. A weak battery can cause some strange problems. Your PT has the can bus sys. So not sure if you have other problems.

Agreed.

I've melted the terminals on mine from a bad connection like this. Wasnt pretty.

Clean the terminals and posts

Baking soda/water and a toothbrush works if you dont have a terminal cleaner :-) * make sure to disconnect the battery before doing this * :-D

Thanks for the reply's!
I did some more home work after posting and came across this thread.
All the lights on the panel go on and needles (gas, mph, tac) go down

Read all four pages, and seems like the common items are clean battery terminals, weak battery, and ignition switch.
My battery is the Original but still looks new, so I cleaned the terminals, positive had some hidden corrosion. Used some steel wool, cleans without removing too much material, also cleaned up the points where the cables connect to the terminal fittings.
Replaced the ignition switch with a MOPAR dealer unit, $54.95 list, dealer always has 10% off coupon on web sight, final cost $49.49 right in there with O'Reilly's (Autozone was $19,99 not to sure about that).
If it reoccurs I will replace the battery with an 84 month OEM from the dealer, $99.00 less that 10% = $ 89.99.

Thanks again for the direction!

That OEM battery is 7 years old...that is a long time for a battery...might be a good idea to have it load tested.

Battery needs to be replaced...there's no two ways around that. It may not be the primary problem right now, but it's definitely not helping.
