Unhappy 2007 PT Cruiser convertible with 27k miles CHECK ENGINE.

Hello all, thank you for taking the time to read this as I am new here but am in a bit of a panic. Two days ago I purchased a 2007 PT Cruiser convertible with 27k miles on it. I test drove the vehicle and it was perfect, so I left my deposit on the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle a week later and made the 85 mile drive home with no problems at all. Now one day later the check engine light came on and stayed on (no flashing light, I know that would be a worse case scenario.) I obtained the P-codes and they are P0304, P0522, P0562, and P0700.

My vehicle is under warranty and I will be taking it in ASAP within the next week. I am by no means anything close to a mechanic, so I am nervously wondering if these codes reflect me having bought a lemon. I've read what each code means but that hasn't helped me much in knowing if anything is very serious here. I really hope not as this has been my dream car and I've finally found one with low miles and a clean carfax. Would I be ok driving it to work in the AM (26 mi.)? If anybody has any insight it'd be very much appreciated. Thank you, again.

-Matt

Welcome to the forum.

With such a random bunch of codes, it's hard to believe you have that many things wrong at the same time. You already know what they mean so won't go over that part.

My suggestion is to take the negative battery cable off for about 5 minutes. Step on the brake peddle to get rid any residual charge and then put it back together. (while the battery cable is off, check for any signs of corrosion around the cable or battery terminal and check the positive side also). Taking the cable off resets the computer and gets rid of any codes that might have been stored before you checked them. Now drive the car and see what, if any, codes come back up if the engine light comes back on.

Thank you, Crewzin. I was alarmed at the amount of codes and that they seemed all over the place, but the car is running fine. No jerking or idling, really smooth ride. I'll try what you said and report back.
