Default She's finally home!!!

Well after several false starts and almost 2 weeks my PT finally came home with me!

For those who don't know, my name is Tom and I've always had a love/hate relationship with the PT Cruiser. The love is that it's actually a "small" car that like and would drive. The "hate" is that it's a "small" car and a Chrysler product. I also love that they're inexpensive, and offer a great platform for customizing.

So, since they came out, I've toyed with the idea of getting one. The thought was to get a black base 5 speed car then figure out how to customize it to have something I'd enjoy using as my daily driver and modifying performance wise so it wouldn't be a slug. As everything I own except for my Harley has 8 cylinders the PTs are attractive gas wise.

Anyway, a few graduate degrees, many job changes, and a few moves and the PT wasn't in the cards until a few weeks ago. The one I came about I found while looking for an S-10, Ranger or Escape for my business to run around with. It was on a government auction and listed as needing some work. Well other than a temp sending unit, and an inexpensive module in the transmission it was fine. (that and whatever the shop kept finding that wouldn't let them release it until they were certain it wouldn't overheat).

So as you can guess, I won the auction, towed it back to Virginia and took it to get it inspected. Today I got my tags, got it back and test drove it. I also ordered a scan-guage while waiting and installed that today.

So, I guess I'm now "official" and will be posting as I make changes and when I have questions. I'm looking to learn more in addition to what I've already have learned about these cars.

Tom

I will as soon as I get a few minutes and it's not cold and snowy. I have a few from the place I bought it, a few on the tow dolly, and I'll take more as soon as I can get outside and take them without freezing!

I got the windshield mount. I'd love to have one of the mounts that Nitro made but he's not selling them. He did tell me he'd let me know though so hopefully when he does, I'll have some extra $$$ In the meantime, I ordered the windshield mount and it seems to work well. I'll show it in the pics when I take them some time this week or weekend.

thanks. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort or not. But I'll think about it. Of course it's cold, windy and been snowing on and off since Sunday so I have no desire to do anything related to going outside, not even to the shop.
