Exclamation Warranty Help!

I have a lifetime power train warranty on the PT. Brenner (The dealer) says the warranty is voided unless i have everything done with them. And only them.

Good-Year that my brother works for has a sign saying this is illegal and they can't void a warranty if Good-year or any authorized shop fixes the car. My brother always says he argues with Brenner a lot for trying to void warranties.

I just can't seem to find anything online about any of this. Anyone know where i can find out for sure on this matter? I don't want to void my warranty, but i also don't trust Brenner. At all. And i would like some proof if they did try and void the warranty.

One reason being when it was in for an oil change in Nov. They stripped the oil pan bolt and decided to shove a bigger size in and let it drive away that way...didn't work out and we made them replace the entire oil pan.

The internet is a good place for answers to that question:

What Voids Your Vehicle's Warranty? -- Edmunds.com

Will cheating on the dealer with an independent mechanic void the warranty? - NWautos

Contact consumer protection and see if they can help you with this.

Search 'chrysler lifetime warranty' and go to the Chrysler.com site. Interesting read. Print it, and hand it to your favorite service [?] manager.

If it is the Chrysler lifetime warranty then can you take it to a different dealer. You don't have to go back to the dealer you bought it from especially if you don't trust them.

I don't think its a Chrysler Warranty. They give all their used cars a lifetime powertrain warranty if you have work done there.

That's why they can dictate their own rules. That is how they make their money back on the warranty. They force you to have all the service done there. My opinion is that it is a gimmick. I think in the long run I would take it somewhere you trust if it is something you can't do yourself. I am sure it would be cheaper in the long run.

Thats kinda how i feel. I think whats holding me up most is i've never owned anything but Saturns (which i know inside and out) and i'm just worried this thing will fall apart in a year or so.

Although with proper maintenance and all it shouldn't have any problems...but still. lol

A lot of the problems that people have stems from the work being performed.
