Default For those of you who have been keep track of fill ups...

I have had to stretch my dollars and my fill ups (sometimes longer than I would have liked). I know I have a 15 gallon tank and I shouldn't run it dry, nor do I want to, but I was wondering what is the most someone has put in, in one fill up. If anyone has run it dry, and filled it back up, how much did it take? I am guessing it would still be less than 15 gallons.

This makes me a little nervous and I wanted to know how close to the edge I was.

The most I have put in so far was 14.39 gallons. There was no hesitating or stalling at that point.
In case I don't see you...
Good afternoon, Good evening, and Good night.

It might be 15 gallons if you count all the vapors in all the hoses.
I believe when you hear the first chime, there are maybe 3 gallons left to go. When you hear the nagging chimes (plural), there is a gallon or less to go. Since the fuel pump is an in-tank unit, the thinking is to never go below a 1/4 to an 1/8 remaining because the fuel tends to cool the pump and helps the fuel pump last as long as the car...... unless you don't mind dropping the fuel tank every so often to change the pump.

The first chime or 12 gal. +/- is about time for sure to look around for a gas station. It's just a good habit to have.
