Unhappy transmission fluid splatered on hood

today when i started the PT it started to sputter on the 1st red light (a few feets from my driveway). i put in N and acelerated a little, by instict, because it felt as if i was letting go of the clutch on a manual car... but rotation was always where it should be... acceleration did not help much, but actually moving the car made the shaking go away. after the red light it drove normal. it never overheated in it's life (in fact, it's one millimiter bellow the mid temp mark at all times)

i could park a couple minutes later and went to to inspect, started with the oil because i'm clueless. it was fine (half mark)

then i noticed a splash on the hood. will post pics later. but imagine that you fill a straw with any beverage, and then blow on it on the wall. it was the same pattern and quantity. with a motion going from the area that rests on top of the positive battery connector going back to the cabin.

my first reaction was to inspect the radiator hose right at that point. it was fine. not loose or anything, and completely dry. so whatever that was wasn't from the radiator.

When i absorbed one of the drops from the sound dapening black thing on the hood, it was pink (when i cleaned all the splash it was a mix of pink drops and light brown ones, but i assume it was just because some of them absorbed dirty from the material... my best guess is that everything there was pink initially). so i looked at the transmission fluid stalk. it sits right next to originating point of the splatter. and it was just 1/4 of a inch (maybe less) off when i pressed it back in.

i'm now at the garage and going to check the fluid color/level and upload pics... (pic upload to picasa is failing. google sucks more each day)
So, the fluid seems perfect. It's on the MAX mark for HOT. it's a perfect light pink. And damn, what chrysler engineers were smoking when they designed that stalk. took me 5min to put it back. so i guess if the fluid exited from it, it wouldn't have moved back in by itself... Damn, i have no idea where that fluid came from!

anyidea what might have hapenned?

pic of the engine bay:

(none of the 'wet' look is caused by the pink stuff. it's just regular engine bay crap)

pic of the splat on top:

(you can zoom... it's on the right side, starting a little to the left-top off the right-middle fastener)

I'd guess coolant is blowing back- Have system pressure tested.
You can also taste the fluid, a little bit won't kill you

from looking at the overflow tank i was assuming it was brown/yellow.

indeed, it's pink. (should it be pink?)

and there's some pinkish cristals (like it form on the maple syrup bottle if you don't clean) forming on the conection from the radiator to the small hose in front for the radiator cap.

but, it's on the other side of the engine bay, and pointing foward, not backward (the direction of the splash)

Ok, so antifreeze makes MUCH more sense than transmission fluid. of course! but I'm still clueless to where it came from!

...think i will have to pay for a pressure test on that system.
