Default cruiser fever! looking into getting a 2nd. what year do you prefer? why?

So, I picked up a very well maintained 2004 limited turbo. It was intended to be a commuter for my husband but we both are really digging the car. I am contemplating selling my Chrysler Pacifica to get a second PT cruiser. So, I ask your opinions on your thoughts of best years? And why?

At the risk of being accused of generational preference, avoid the 2006 - 2010 because of the complex canbus electrical system.

Being thus the newest, a 2005 might seem to be the best choice of 1st gen model years, but lacks some standard features that earlier (even 2004) years had.
You could consider looking for a 2004 Dream Cruiser, or a 2005 convertable. It might become valuable.
PT History

"How would we rank the models for desirability? We show our speculation ranking below, with reasons, but remember, it is only speculation. It will be interesting to see how the actual history compares as it develops.

1st - 2005 Dream Cruiser 4 - The only convertible Dream Cruiser, 220hp turbo, unique colors, inside, outside and top, well equipped, limited run of 1,700 cars.

2nd - 2005 GT convertible - First convertible, only year of convertible in the "classic" PT body, 220hp turbo, fewer produced.

3rd - 2004 Dream Cruiser 3 - Special two-tone paint, 220hp turbo, only model with factory dual-pipes, limited run of 1,300 cars...."

Avoid GEN2's at all costs

If you do get one, you will be scorned, mocked, and treated like a red headed stepchild.

I had a Pacifica for a time, absolutely hated the degree of comfort, specifically I would get out of it in agony ! Must have been the substandard seating.... At any rate, yes, 1st Gen and Turbo.... I wouldn't own anything else

The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.

NOPE I AINT GONNA AGREE
I drive a 2006 and love it
Yes the electrical system is diffrent but guess what it works
Really there isnt much of a diffrence other than the headlights and the electrical system thingee
There are some extra options on the Gen1s--

For me a nice 2013 with a Mercedes 3 cyl desiel and a 6 speed gear box would be the ticket mayeb a 4x4 option but none of that exist so

Id go for as new as you can find I would go for the turbo with a 5 speed if you could find one

It seems almost half the people come on here wanting to know 2 things
How can I make the PT a racer car?
How can i get 40 mpgs

SO get the PT GT and the first one is fixed
on the second just give it up
the PT is a car to style in and be something that is not the same as everything else on the road

so as new as you can afford
5 speed
turbo

I would just be picky aszz and take my time looking.

Since your in CA( I assume from your sig), I would look for a low mileage GT Stick Covertible.

Since you will get squat for your Pacifica, I would add a 3rd car to my fleet.

If you look on cars.com and craigslist, the convertibles tend have lower miles.

Two years ago I picked up my 06 Base conv with 4000 miles and last year my 05 GT stick with 11,300 miles. It was like buying new cars for 1/3 of the cost when new Doesnt get any better than that.

I actually like the interior better in the Gen 2 than the Gen 1.

I love my 06 (2nd gen) - I won't bad mouth the OLDER 1st generation as I respect my elders!
