Default "Loose" Side Mirror Lens

The lens on my driver's side mirror wobbles at highway speeds. It it not the glass itself, but seems that the mount the glass attaches to has a little bit of play in it. These are OEM power mirrors - before I go through removing the mirror to look at it further, does anyone know if there is anything that can be adjusted or tightened in there? Or, will I need to replace the whole unit?

I would say you will need to take the side mirror off to look inside it to see what might be loose. The OEM Service Manual and parts catalogs do not show a breakdown of the side mirrors, because they are only sold as a complete unit.

Here's the closest thing you'll find, unless someone has something else:

Also it's VERY easy to pull those mirrors off - well, at least it is on my car. The inside panel just snaps into place, then there are a couple screws or so, and that's it.

Chromenut,

thank you for posting those details. I knew the mirror bolts were pretty easy to get to - I've been inside those doors a few times for speaker work. I had a few minutes, so I popped off the sail panel and removed the mounting bolts. I was hoping there was a way to easily disassemble that mirror unit, but it looks like Mopar designed these as non-serviceable. That would explain why there are no procedures listed other than replacing the whole thing. I think if I try to open it up I will destroy it.

So, I'll continue to live with that "lens wobble" until I either pick up another mirror from a junkyard or online.

05; how about setting the mirror where you want it and then hot-glueing it in a few places?

Even if I could glue it in place (and I don't really see a way to do that), that wouldn't work for me as sometimes others in the family drive it. I called one used parts place near me and they have a used mirror for $50. Seems like a lot. I see new ones online for about $30.

New side mirror from eBay: $30
Time to install new mirror: ~20 minutes
Being able to see other vehicles in the side-view mirror at highway speeds: priceless!
