Default Years over but under milage

Hi Guys
i've just been on the phone to Chrysler (UK) asking a price for a cam belt change out. (Before i go on they would charge 399 for a belt change and MOT)
Anyway.
Before getting to the price I told him it was an auto 2.0 2002.
He said the life span of the belt is 96 months or 112000 miles whatever comes first.
Now her car has done 84000 miles which is way under but it's 11 years old (2 years more)
Do I replace it or is it safe for another year or so (Say another 10,000 miles which is a lot more than we'll do)?

Cheers lads

My tensioner was shot and destroyed the belt. Was a lot of extra headache having it break and leaving me stranded. Really just a personal choice. I alway error on the side of caution and my kit had new upgraded tensioner and cover that are less prone to failure. Pricy to pay for replacement and a real pain in the ass to do yourself!!

We had this discussion on the forum not too long ago and YES, years/time does matter. As was just said, better to be safe than sorry.

I like your chances better than if you had s say 40k. Rubber dry rots not being used. Be it's a crap shoot. Better to plan to than to have to.

Unlike the 2.4, the 2.0 does bend valves, so on top of being stalled and having to replace a belt ...

Last question lads.
See as my belt is only 85000 miles thus meaning so is the tensioner. Would I be ok just changing the pulley and leaving the same bracket and hydraulic shock tensioner in place? Saves removing the cam sprockets etc and saves money.

I would not short cut anything. Do it right the first time and replace all parts recommended.

The 2.0 uses the hydraulic tensioner-
2.4 only used it in '95, IIRC.

The hydraulic tensioner is bulletproof- no need to replace.

Do replace the idler pulleys and water pump, buy a chrysler water pump (yes, I know $$)
