Default head light problem

Recently when I switch from high beam to low beams all the lights just turn off . If I cycle the switch again they will turn back on. This is not something that happens all of the time but if i just leave the low beams on I never have a problem. This gets annoying because I do most of my driving at night.

Very possible you have a problem with the multi-function switch that controls the lights/fog/turn signals. Lots of owners have had to replace that switch.

By fog light switch, do you mean the stalk on the steering column that works the lights?

You just may be able to do so. Let us all know what you learn.
My 1990 Mazda 626 has headlight hi-low beam switch problems that I fix from time to time by disassembling and cleaning up.

Based on my experience today, check that the pins at the left side grey connector are all securely pressed in.
