Default towing and spoiler

Will the larger 1st gen rear spoiler work on a 2nd gen 06?
What is the best towing hitch to buy for my 06 PT?

If you have no spoiler at all on your 06, the old one will work but make sure you get the template to show yo where to drill the holes. You can get them on eBay already painted.

If your towing less than 1000 lbs., the hitch made by Chrysler for the PT will do fine but any after market hitch should do. If your over that limit you need to start with a Class 1 hitch.

I do already have a spoiler on my 06. Dothe holes lineup or will I need a fill and redrill?
For the towing, what's your thoughts on Draw-tite hitches?

Need someone else for a better understanding of the hitches. Your spoiler now, it's a good chance it WON'T line up with the early spoiler so holes would have to be plugged or filled in.

F4D,

I have a 2006 PT Cruiser GT Convertible and have pulled a trailer with it since I got it in 2009. I have a class 1 Rigid Hitch that works with all models of the 2006 PT.

It has been trouble free since I installed it. It was a bit of a chore to get the single flange bolt and nut started, and I had to grind some of the mounting nut plate to get it in the channel, so l could get the bolt started, In fact, I had to have my wife position the mounting nut plate, as my hands were too big to fit through the hole in the PT'S body. The double bolt and nut plates were no problem. I don't know if it would be the same on the PT Wagon or not.

I looked at the Draw Tight hitches, But couldn't find the listing for the PT Cruiser, I do have some experience with DrawTight Hitches, As I had one on my Chevy Silverado 3/4 Ton Truck. It was a larger Capacity hitch, But was trouble free.

I don't think you would go wrong with either the Rigid or DrawTight Hitches.

I pull both a 8' Utility trailer and a Aspen Classic Camping Trailer with my 2006 GT PT Convertible with the High Output Turbo 230HP Engine. While I know they are behind me, The GT doesn't have any trouble pulling them. Both of them loaded, are under the 1,000lb towing limit.

Here's A Link to the Trailer Hitch that I am Using on the PT Cruiser.

Rigid Class I, 1-1/4 inch Receiver Hitch RT-157

I installed a hidden hitch that I got off eBay . Installed by myself with the aid of some floor jacks. Don't forget that you will need to buy the trailer light kit for the PT because of computer.
