Default How would you have done a gen 3?

So basic question, if Chrysler hadn't killed off the Cruiser, and with Fiat's influence, how do you think a feasible Gen 3 could have worked out?

The main excuse of there it being an older uncommon platform kind of falls by the wayside with them spending $1 billion for the Dart CUSW platform. They could have made a CUST(tall) platform for coulple million more.

For the front, I'd like to have seen Fiat 500 headlights in molded ports between the fender and grille, along with the newer 200 style grille.

For the back, to improve highway mpg, bring the upper body in narrower along the beltline, with a small bumper in the back, and a more pronounced rear spoiler.

Offer some cool rims like the VW Heritage wheels.

For the powertrain, the same ones in the dart would probably do ok, maybe with a V6 option too.

My photoshopping skills are lacking, but here's the general idea.

I would not hesitate to never drive one. Sorry to much beetle for me. I would have gone away from the 2gen bumper and gone more in the way of some of the original prototypes. The Pronto comes to mind. Or a truck version maybe.

Gas mileage is a product of to much weight versus hp. It takes a lot of gear to move this heavy car. The mod for the back won't affect this. The vert is proof of that. I just hope Fiat is building a better car than the first time they were in this county. The spider was a great looking car but was junk, both in body construction and mechanically.

Management didn't really like the PT from what I have read. so maybe that is why the fuel mileage thing went unaddressed. Or maybe that's all they had for the budget of the company at the time.

I would have liked to have seen a pick-up or a 2 door in different configurations.

Well maybe if you stretched it out just a little bit.

Haven't seen this one before, that's sweet!

and busted, I wasn't trying to go with a Beetle look except the wheels, more like having light pods, kinda like a Jag does like this:

to pay homage to the old 30's Chrysler's like this:

Fuzzyweis,
You might want to take a look at these two links....

Google Image Result for http://www.autointell.net/nao_companies/daimlerchrysler/chrysler/chrysler-california-03/chrysler-california-beach-surfer-350-192.jpg

Where could I find this?
