Someone with more recent experience can chime in but as far as I know, the High side and Low side ports are different sizes so that you can't hook up a recharge kit to the high side?

But yeah wait for someone who's sure to chime in!

The earlier models had the two ports right on top close together. Then for some reason, Chrysler decided to move it. What was reported was that the low side was moved down towards the compressor. The front plastic grill has to be taken off to gain access.

I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

Exclamation Re: Help me locate LOW SIDE PORT

hi crewzin

thanks for the reply.

have you seen the photographs that i posted. you can click the link tosee the photos. there is only one port there, covered by the black cap. is this the low side port?

as someone else has replied that you can not hook the recharge kit to the high side port because its different size, so should i go for it if the kit fits there?

thanks again

That's what I'd do. See if it hooks up, if not start digging around the compressor to see if the port is down there.

IDQ - Auto A/C Products & Sealing Solutions

Found this and it too says the kit only fits on the low side. I would still wait for someone who's done it. I think also that the you can tell by temperature when the system is running ie cool side line is cool high side is warm,,but if your low on refrigerant that might not work for you?

You might alos need oil in the system..not sure those kits address that issue?

Take out the grill are you S@##ing me!!! The only reason to do that would be to give the PT more of the European PIA to work on factor!

Got an 89 Porsche 944 Turbo up on blocks, still with a hydraulic clutch issue and let me tell you it's PIA factory is off the scale!!!!!!!

Still I have a 2001 PT so I guess I dodged the remove grill bullet!

I just put a can in about 10 minutes ago, and everyone is right, you cannot put the kit on the high side, it is too big.

Mine is at the same spot the original poster took a pic of, on top next to the shock tower.

As far as taking the grille off, it is not a biggie, a couple of screws on top and lift to undo the hooks at the bottom. You should not have to worry about doing that anyway.

No I don't have to worry..it's just the principle of thing! Sure for those for whom it applies the first quote at dealer will be...remove the grill....

Glad you got her done!

For anyone trying to find out where the charging port is this is pretty handy:Find your car's low pressure port for AC PRO use.
