Default Power Windows Problem

I've read through the various posts on Window problems, but can’t see one quite like mine.

I have an 2004 Cruiser ( not convertible) 2L Petrol at ~ 85k miles. The power windows stopped working. My wife said that when she last used the windows on closing, they were slow going up.

I tried the vehicle reset (remove +ve from Battery for 20 mins). When I retested, I pushed the front button for Front Full Open (continuous), I heard a buzz from under the dash so switched it the opposite direction to stop it. Windows stopped working again.

Tried another Vehicle Reset (Battery..), windows still not working...

Tried another Vehicle Reset (Battery..), this time windows worked and managed to close all windows. Then they stopped responding again after a few open and closes of different windows.

It seems something is not right, but I can get a temporary fix after a reset, but need a permanent solution.

Any ideas of what it is or a better diagnosis.

Thx Bob

Question Re: Power Windows Problem

What year?....What model?....How many miles?.....Recent work done?......Alot of people seem to think this info isn't important, but it sometimes helps.

Default Re: Power Windows Problem

Not sure but I think there is a relay that controls the power to the window switch . The panel can be pulled out of the dash . Might just be a short in the wiring cause theres no way all (4) window regulators will go bad at the same time. Its just a matter of finding the Problem . Somebody has the drawings on the electrical wiring for the windiw circuit.

Default 2004 Cruiser Window Switch

Could be the Master Switch going out on you. You can always return it if it doesn't fix your issue.
