Default Rear bump stops

Is there a performance advantage when using polyurethane bump stops? And if there is, how will it affect ride quality?

No, and the ride will be crappy if you are on the bump stops period. But they look good.

Had to cut the lower bump off mine when I lowered it with Eibach's. No advantage, just stops the harsh "bang" over bumps. Put the whole kit of polyurethane bushings on last year. Tightened things up quite a bit and rides better, I think. Put new tires on near the same time so it's hard to tell what made the biggest difference.

Lightbulb Re: Rear bump stops

I haven't done my PT Cruiser yet....But,I put a full set of Prothane bushings on my '98 Tacoma I used to have, and I could immediately tell a BIG (and better) difference from the stock rubber bushings......I'll probably do the same when it comes time for the PT,especially stabilizer & end links look easy so I'll do them first.

One warning about cutting down your rear bump stops - lets say you lower your car 2" - DO NOT CUT DOWN 2" ON THE REAR BUMP STOPS! Whatever level you're lowering to, cut the stops 1/2" shorter. So 1.5" rather than 2".

The reason is, if a big guy like me gets in your car, your rear tire will rub inside the fender well. I'm starting to worry that I may ruin my expensive Parellis because my left rear is constantly rubbing because I cut the stops too low.

I can't imagine that anyone makes poly bump stops.....
......and if anyone did, I can't imagine that anyone would buy them.

lol this is actually a funny thread....

Energy Suspension carries polyurethane bump-stops.

But as someone said why would you? Even though the rated Durometer of the Energy Suspension BS =bump stop (hahaha) is 80 that is still hard for what they would do on a normal street driven vehicle? You want a bump stop to slow down and absorb the impact not stop the rear end movement altogether. That is unless your intent is to do so. In which case it is not going to be subtle!?

I might add that a nice set of RED *BS will add HP as well as aesthetically looking "kool" though!!

*BS I have recently by a member been said I have a lot of this???

Urban Dictionary: bs
