Default Can a pt cruiser....

Will the PT Cruiser's ECU shut the car down to protect itself from over heating?

How does the CAT stall (no jokes here please). You are referring to the catalytic converter, right?

So, why is your car stalling? Lots of things can make it stall so more information is needed for us to try and help. A bad sensor(s), they are all over the engine. Dirty parts, like the throttle body or battery connections. Bad battery or loose connections. Fouled plugs or bad plug wires....just to name a few.

well i noticed my coolant was low when it was getting warm, I topped it off. It started to get hotter then it would cool down while driving, figured their is air in the lines, so i just finished burping it. but when i was driving it would make a weird noise, very hard to describe and then it would stall out. It would not start again until i let it sit and cool down. Going to take it for a ride now and see if it stalls again.

If the coolant was low, you need to find out where it's going. Very, very little goes away by evaporation. It goes somewhere, like a leak or into one of the cylinders where it's burned up because of a cracked head gasket.

Also, whenever you have to add coolant, there's air in the system. Air replaces any lost coolant so the system has to be burped of any excess air. The weird noise might have been bubbling in the overflow tank. Air in the system allows the boiling point to be reduced quite a bit and the coolant can boil.

Thats what i think it was, i was still confused as to why it would stall. I hope i dont have a blown head gasket. I dont see any leakage under the car. It might be leaking on to a hot part and burning up though. I just took it for a test drive, the temp gauge didnt go above the middle line. Plus i have a scan gauge II that said the coolant temp was constantly around 195-205. It didnt stall out and it didnt make that weird noise. I am perplexed as to why it stalled. I dont think that could have had anything to do with air in coolant system.
