Default Water Pump and timing belt

2005 PT Cruiser convertible with 2.4L standard output turbo with 91,000 miles

I just paid a mechanic to replace my timing belt, drive belt, pulley and tensioners and seals, engine mount, intake gaskets, water pump, transmission fluid and filter, cam and crank were replaced also.

basically about everything on front right of motor replaced.

before this service work, my normal operating temp was at 1/2 on temp gauge. after repair car is running between 2/3 and 3/4 on temp gauge. it is not in red, but I am concerned about the hire normal operating temp.

any advice would be appreciated!!!!

Replacing the water pump means the mechanic took out and maybe replaced the coolant. My guess is that it wasn't properly bled of all the excess air. Have it done before it gets worse and keep an eye on the temp till you do.

coolant was not replaced. could it still be excess air?

i am being very careful with temp and not driving car much at all. When I do I put top down and turn on heater. Temp stays OK with good air flow on highway, but goes up in traffic

even if the coolant was not replaced, it runs thru the water pump. air could have gotten into the system when it was changed out. as crewzin stated, bleed the system first.

Why would you replace all those parts and go through all that labor and expense, and not replace the coolant?

Check yo see if the fan runs when you turn the AC on. If know fan then it could be unplugged.

If the fan comes on when it is supposed to then it had to be something like that or air as the others suggest.
