Default Power Steering Resevoir Tank

2005 PT Cruiser convertible with 2.4L standard output turbo

My Power steering resevoir has starting to leak fluid at the mid line seam where the two pieces of the resevoir come together. I can not find a power sterring resevoir part to replace it. I have tried repairing leak, but that did not work. I tried local salvage and nothing.

Does anyone have or know a source for this hard to find part?

I had the same problem with the power steering pump reservoir leaking at the seam .I used a plastic welding kit purchased from Harbor Freight to stop the leak. However ,I had to buy a complete pump assembly off the internet to get a reservoir. I used the complete unit for about a year before it started to leak. The GT Pump assembly can only be purchased at the dealer. Ihave been looking for another one to keep in reserve.

The stock srt4 pump and reservoir is the same as on our PTs. There is an aftermarket replacement aluminum tank for srt4 which I suspect will fit in our car too, but I am not certain. It would take getting some measurements from the manufacturer and verifying there is enough space in our cars to accommodate it.

I would recommend to be careful of members claiming things fit that have not actually done the installation and provided a "how to" informational guide or at least pictures or some form of part numbers indicating claims.

It is my opinion that they should at least use the words "MAY" fit" in some information instead of misleading PT Cruiser member by giving any impression that the information provided is accurate.

Please look at this and many articles concerning information on forums.

Do you feel guilty? Do you feel that my first response was directed at you. I did not quote you nor did I mention any members name?

What I did was suggest that some information may not be very reliable in the fashion it is given.

All you did was simplify provide what should have been provided in the original response.

Was that really so hard to do?
